My Story

Rooted in Rest was born from my own journey into motherhood.

My family is originally from South India. I was born in Dubai, immigrated to Canada as a child, and eventually built my life here. Becoming a mother truly changed the direction of my life.

After the birth of my first child, I came face to face with how much support, rest, and nourishment the postpartum period truly requires. I felt the depletion that so many new parents quietly carry. When I became pregnant with my second baby, I knew I wanted something different. I prepared not only for birth, but for the weeks that would follow.

Drawing from traditional Eastern postpartum practices, especially those rooted in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I embraced the concept of “lying in.” I limited visitors, followed the 5-5-5 rule, ate warm, nourishing foods, stayed close to my baby, and allowed myself to be cared for. Rest, warmth, and steady support became the foundation of my healing, and the difference I felt was profound.

In those early days, cocooned at home, I had a quiet knowing that one day, I would want to help someone else feel this held.

Around that same season of life, I was also navigating the intensity of parenting two young children while tending to my own healing. I was tired and stretched thin. Reiki entered my life as a place to soften. Through daily self-practice, I began to feel steady again — more grounded, more connected to myself.

Over time, postpartum care and Reiki naturally wove together. Both are rooted in the same belief: that healing happens when we feel safe, supported, and given permission to rest.

Today, as a certified postpartum doula and Jikiden Reiki practitioner, I offer in-home care that honors body, mind, and spirit. I support families with newborn care, nourishing meals, emotional processing, practical help, and gentle hands-on care — always centering the birther while tending to the whole household.

I believe the postpartum weeks are sacred. They are not a time for pushing or performing. They are a time for warmth, slowness, and being deeply supported.

Rooted in Rest exists to create that space.
